06/27/2009 20:48 | New HP System Quite obviously, we now have a new HP system. I've set auto-heal on for everyone, but you can turn it off easily in exploring. It's now possible to use healing items out of battle, and you must heal your monsters. Please keep in mind breeders under level 5 do not pay for healing, and upon being evolved, a monster's HP and energy are restored. Healing monsters in battle will come next update.
Trainer Skill Tree Rebalanced I designed the tree over a year ago and it's aged with time. So I rebalanced: Applied learning: only costs 1 SP now. Battle Cry / War Tactics: only need 3 SP in each now, and each level has been upped in... potency... Proficiency: brought it from max of 15% to 25% Treasure hunting: (it wasn't even in) been changed to Flesh Wound Mastery, which halves your hospital bills.
I suggest everyone respecs, but nothing will break if you don't.
Aesthetic Improvements So, have you noticed it? We're using super techniques to send information without actually reloading the whole page. Looks great, and is even easier on the server. Check out the SRP page, if you haven't noticed. The inventory page has been redone: now it fits any style you're using, a lot of spacing issues were taken care of, shards and healing items have pictures, items that are absolutely meant to be sold now have a direct link, and you can't equip them. (as there is no point) I also made a blind-friendly option for people with beyond-shitty browsers, and visual impairments.
We've now got a new system for determining equipment pre/suffixes. Check the reference. Along with this, the ever-useful "furious" prefix has been made, and prefixes are now more common in general.
Hovering on your breeder health/mood in home now tells you how much exp you make a day.
Made the forums look a tad better.
In the land of server optimization, I've just made it easier to view profiles for the server.
Sledge Wielder's drawn us more art: redrew that horrible giant vicious rabbit. Unfortunately his laptop broke so he won't be able to draw for us for some time.
I also spent some time, quite frankly writing the quests to be a lot better. Using gender, and the player's path, the quests are now more lively and I've just in general written some parts better.

06/27/2009 20:49 | Dev Notes I'm not SUPER MEGA HAPPY about the new HP system but it had to be done. First off, it's a lot better for the server, and second, it allows the game to be more realistic and challenging. Moving in and out of a city to heal fully is not only disengaging, but genuinely boring, and not very well explained to newbies.
Next update will have a new quest (yes, lol, one new quest) and I'm going to be focusing on getting the BCS stuff ready, hopefully I'll have VIP working, and I'll get those items working in battle.
If VIP is available and working, this will mean the first time I can ever start to make a real income from MonBre. As I'm sure you understand, this is pretty important to me. I still do plan to dump about $100 into advertising in late July and I'm getting more and more confident that this game can become a serious contender in our field. Keep in mind there aren't many games like MonBre, and even the ones that sort of are (KoL for instance) still are about turns, or just buying your way to victory, etc.

06/28/2009 11:29 | "a lot harder"? I just made the PvE skills more considerable, and all I did was add a -small- money sink for explorers, which is even smaller if you get the flesh wound mastery. On top of that, in terms of SRP, I even increased the 2x SRP talent.
