The date is July 14th, 2009. 19:35. (6:33 PM) EST.

Yesterday I lost my computer. Today I fixed it by removing faulty RAM. The whole process will cost me $50 to get my awesome RAM back. (3 gigs -> 1 gig now) During these two days, I had some time for reflection.

MonBre is not going to go anywhere. I have full intentions of finishing all three campaigns, a dungeon system, and tons of other things. I plan to live off the income I generate from the Internet.

That being said, I'm only 20 years old, and I'm pushing myself way too hard. It is hard for some people to understand pushing yourself hard when you're working a "computer job" - but I assure you what I lack in physical exertion I make up in mental exhaustion.

Those close to me know I work too gorram hard on this game, and because I love it. I love the lore I've written, I love how we're not like any game I know, I love how blind people love my game enough to play it even though shit breaks for them, I love my community, and I love the feeling I get when I see 10 people logged into my game at once.

Going back... I am only 20 years old. It's Summer. When I had no computer, no connection to the 'net, I went through a state of shock, depression, and then relief. I recognized that I was, in fact, bored by playing games, and I think it stems back to the fact I spend a lot of time on this machine. I actually stopped, watched TV, and played my Wii. I was playing Wii boxing and I'm like, gosh it would be fun to have a friend here, and I realized then too just how much I'm neglecting my real life, my "meatspace" as I call it.

I contacted a uh... contact of mine. I convinced him to give me another chance (from last year) for web design, and he accepted, saying to make a decent portfolio and he'll start to once again advertise for web design. For those of you who aren't aware, web design is big bucks. I once almost had a contract (dudes backed out, found an indian company, got a shitty site) for $2,500. $1,700 to me after taxes. (contact takes the finder's fee) The site would've taken me roughly 2 weeks. 80 hours. That's about $20 an hour to work from home in an air-conditioned office.

Needless to say, I am going to focus on getting a car, getting some contracts, or even a steady web design job.

I plan an update this Friday as usual, which will include minimaps and roads to help you all find your way in the wilderness.

I am going to take it easy with MonBre for now. I need to work on ChaCha when I have no major work, and I've been neglecting it so harshly - $120 in 30 days is absolutely pathetic.

I plan to have enough money to absolutely advertise monbre in October. I know I said I was going to pour $100 in at the end of july, but I'm mentally and financially just not ready to do that yet. When I pour in my money, I want to be sure every gorram newbie that signs up is in love with us.

I'm also working on another project that does not interfere with monbre. It is a game also, of a different variety, but not generic. Also run in the browser.

I doubt I will ever give up on monbre, but I just need to take it easy and situate myself in the next months. I still doubt there will ever be a day I don't open notepad++ to code something for the game, but I do hope I don't get to the point where my insides hurt because I am stressed so much.

Your loving overlord,
Vael Victus

But when that call never comes, it's time to face what you've become - there's no point doing all of this, unless you know you're having fun.

Relax man, you do not need to exert yourself to a point of pain and/or anguish. The people that see monbre as it is and that being a unique browser game will pretty much always be here to make sure you know we support you even in you most dire of times.
