Apr 14th - 03:31 | Party Hard v1 - v2 --------- Campaign 1 will be done very early into v2's development cycle.
Upon getting a new trainer license, stronger eggs will be made available to the trainer.
Make it so you actually have to go to the hospital to heal your monsters. How much you pay is dependant on how good the hospital is. (the better it is, the less you pay)
Make it possible for guilds to "embezzle" their flags with words.
Character biographies. More of a roleplaying thing for fun. Like, "Vael Victus is a starving 20-year-old born out of New England in America. He asks people play his game so he has money and doesn't die a lonely death."
Ranking up abilities.
"Money gained" logs.
The look of the exploring page changes depending on which terrain you're stepping on.
Legendary monsters. Pretty much a complete rip off of Pokemon, which I must say is a first for Monster Breeder. We've never used anything from Pokemon. xP Besides, this shit's cool anyway.
I'd really like to have a sort of "race track" idea that would be just for one or two cities (probably like city 2 and 6 or something, and 6 has a more pro racetrack).
You can send monsters to "training". It's very expensive and takes a whooooole week. (or less? ) It works like sending monsters training in Monster Rancher. The stat gains are very high and are symbolized by like "star", "two stars", and for lesser stat gains it'll be like "-". Also, I could probably easily flash this.
Campaign 2 is completed, and over. ^-^ Trust me guys, this shit gets EPIC.
"Titans", more like the "weapons" from FF7 simply must be in. More bosses, too, for that matter. The titans appear at the end of campaign 1.
This version is the "final idea" of the game. As in, when I was thinking this up, and said, "I want a browser-based game so massive, that it could be called an MMO!", this is what I wanted.
Effects in battles from things like praying at a god's statue while exploring, or if your guild casts an enchant over all its members.
Custom monster moves can be added by items and stuff. Also, uhm, perhaps like a custom move trainer instead, at like 2 of the cities or something.
Monsters have "traits"; I've already programmed them the ability to get one. All I need is to apply them to battles and such. PvP too?
Entry text for mobs. When the player enters battle with a mob, it'll be all cinematic-y by being like "A vicious rabbit hops out of a bush and attacks!", but of course better.
--------- Far off future... --------- Version 3.0
(this version comes when I am making a decent income off the game)
Campaign 3, the last planned campaign for MonBre, will be here.
Dungeons.
Pictures for equips.
Weather effects in and out of battle. Example would be, you lose a bit of speed in weather unless your monster is a floating monster. The mob also experiences this.
--------- Possibilities of the future. --------- Version ???
I don't know how big MonBre will get. Our systems are pretty much infinite, so I don't have to worry about monsters ever being too strong or something. I expect monsters at the end of campaign 3 to have about 750 average stats. If I really can live off MonBre, I'll continue to develop content for it. I really do enjoy coding, and I've got a site at [link] that I've been meaning to develop.
ALL DISCUSSION OF THE PIPELINE CAN BE PUT HERE. IF YOU WANT TO DISCUSS ONE IN FURTHER DEPTH, HOWEVER, MAKE A NEW TOPIC FOR IT IN "GAME DEVELOPMENT"

04/14/2009 22:20 | Stronger eggs, ability rank ups, titans, custom moves - all epic as hell. Actually, for custom moves, have two "tiers" of them. First trainer lets you get them however strong, second trainer goes all the way.
Legendary monsters - Obviously, worked around to be less of a rip-off of Pokmon. I assume it'd work like Benji did, but due to the limit of 5 monsters... Why not make them immune to that? You don't get to keep them like your other monsters, and they won't work for you. They're "too good" for that. But they will fight with you against gods, titans, bosses, raids, etc. etc. The big guys.
That way, no need to explain how everyone has Zapdos at the same time. Also less broken, more long term... Sacrifice SRP to the legend, get abilities for it? Increased damage, defense, a new skill, chance to revive itself, awesome stuff like that. Costing appropriately huge amounts.
Also, they could talk. That just feels appropriate to me.
Training - A limit of one monster training at once, maybe. I was thinking let them do certain things while training, but that wouldn't make any sense. But, better idea.
Training courses let them work while training. These would be training courses done in town or some such.
Exploring courses let you search or something, to have a chance to find treasure/items/whatever you feel is appropriate.
Dungeon diving courses wouldn't let you do anything, but they'd have appropriate rewards.
Titans, bosses - Would these be done the same way as the god fights? There ought to be some special system for them to make them as epic as they deserve to be. Possibly where legendary monsters come in?
Bosses - would they be like the "go find me a golden bandersnatch" (actually got it my first bandersnatch I found) or would they be like "go to this location, fight the gigantic monkey that is eating our trees"? The second one would be nicer, I think. You could also toss in little puzzles and other things rather than always have go to x, kill y, get z reward.
STORYLINE - How much of one is there? I'm actually loving the stuff from the raids, oddly enough. I can't help but feel there ought to be more of it. I'm not the world's greatest writer, otherwise I'd be doing that for a living, but I'm more than capable of writing. You'd probably want someone to check it over though, I'm not really my best critic.

04/15/2009 09:14 | We have a loose storyline and I've really been meaning to pick it up. I think eventually once I'm settled with campaign 1, I'll go back and really make it have extra storyline elements. (much to your displeasure, 'cuz you'll have to go back for some quests) An idea I had like this was when the newbie finishes their tutorial, gets their name, it gives them another page with a storyline. Like your mother shoos you out and tells you to go fight shit you lazy bum.
I actually can't have more than 5 monsters. It's just not happening. I actually wish I had only made a max of 4 monsters, but it doesn't really work with dual splicing stuffs anyway. The monsters page is squished enough already, and it's not even in my system to have 6+. It'd be such a monstrous undertaking at this point.
The legendary monsters are going to be quite rare and they'll have very poor life expectancies, so it will be a large chore to continuously own them.
The bosses are actually going to be roaming around the world, little sprites and everything. They'll move into their position every 5 minutes, and in a random little pattern. So at 5:05 of the clock, it'll be in the same position as 11:05. Once you kill one, it doesn't respawn. There will be a checklist. This is coming at a later date, probably around the time we get sprites for the trainer too 'cuz I have to add another layer to the exploring.
The titans are seperate like Gongogoroth, but I'm actually redoing gongogoroth to make him more... not stupid.

04/15/2009 15:54 | I don't care really, storyline is nice even if it means backtracking. I guess it really depends if you want to parody the whole monster trainer genre (Your mother puts down her novel and gives you that look of hers, and you know instinctively something is up. She only ever stops reading for one thing, and that's to give you orders.) Maybe a lengthened tutorial quest chain where you have to go around doing chores for her?
On the other hand, you could also try to have a serious storyline, something at least not horribly clich. (Half asleep, you wander outside to check your mail. Shielding your eyes against the bright morning glare, you realize there's another note taped to your mailbox. Again? Unsigned, just like the others. Grabbing your copy of the New Orsa Times, you sigh and wonder if maybe it's time to find out who would want you to become a Monster Breeder so badly...)
Spoiler: It's your first monster : D Take a short, but not too short, little personality quiz in the paper before you get him, and that determines the type you get.
Yeah, I don't think having more monsters would be very good. It wasn't very similar, but a game by the people behind MyBrute, DinoRPG, let you have 20 dinos. They were expensive, but the more you had the easier you earned money, so the easier you got more... I had 9, and it got to the point where it killed my desire to play any of their games at all.
I dunno, I just don't want to keep a monster slot open while hoping for a legendary... Though, you could change the limit down to 4, and have a 5th spot for a legendary monster. I don't think it's too late to change something like that, but you may not want to.
The way I'm thinking of titans, I'm thinking of like Power Rangers where they get in their big zord to fight the gigantic form of the monster. Or like Penny Arcade's On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness Episode 2 final boss, where you fight the giant boss with a giant robot. Except less of a giant pile of crap.

The storyline should be based on how great I am, but that is a given, so I suppose you didn't need any reminding.

That seems taken out of Monster Rancher 2(in part of course, as in the game it didn't matter what you answered) but I like it!

Of course because you're like the new god in town! You create people...or at least they physical qualities!

04/21/2009 05:24 | Really? My bad, the last time I played Monster Rancher 2 was ages ago... I just thought that'd be kinda neat, because I'd been playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance A2. Your personality quiz on there is a school assignment, and that determines what privileges you start off with.

05/15/2009 14:35 | Oh! I remember that.
I think we should be able to splice with other users. I don't even know if that's doable though.
Maybe the hospital costs could also vary on the injuries your monster has. Because if you end up with only a little money but your monsters pretty hurt, that wouldn't be cool. Like, if they were hurt fighting a god it would be way more expensive.

05/16/2009 13:13 | Thanks, Lilly, but I think splicing another user's monsters would be pretty abusable. Perhaps in the future.

05/18/2009 13:37 | Yeah, maybe doing it with a portion? As opposed to an older player quitting and splicing off their best monsters to everyone.
Like, it would divide their stats by whatever amount, possibly requiring an equivalent sacrifice between the two people la single-splicing.
