The Saddest Scene Ever Committed to Celluloid in the History of Mankind
The scene opens, and there�s an ageing man sitting alone in his house. He�s been alone for a very long time, and as you watch you get a sense of how he lives his life. He has a stack of water bottles, and you watch as he pokes a hole in one and dabs some onto a cloth. He picks up a towel, and takes them to have his only bath for the year. You see him go through his daily routine, checking the barricades on his windows and crossing the days off of his calendar. One day, he walks into a pristine room, with a wooden table and a single chair. In the corner is an ornate cabinet, which he opens to reveal a tiny tin of gourmet cookies. He carries it to the table and sets it down perfectly in the middle, then goes back to the cabinet to get a butter knife. He opens the tin, and there are only three cookies left. He removes one, cuts it in half with the butter knife, and puts the remaining half back in the tin. He sits for a moment staring off into space, maintaining his perfectly rigid posture. Then, as slowly as can be, he eats the cookie. Piece by piece. Then he puts the lid back onto the tin, and replaces it alongside the knife in the cabinet. Then he goes to his calendar, and crosses off a day marked as �Cookie Day.�
edit: Oh yeah, this is just a slightly spruced up version of a story from a podcast on Destructoid. Forgot to mention that. In my head I imagined myself rewriting it beautifully, but then didn't. My bad.
