Okay, so here's how my life goes. I work for ChaCha, on the Internet, and make $30 a day usually. That's okay, it pays the bills and I gross a decent amount.

However, MonBre is my main squeeze. I need 500 subscribers a month to live off MonBre. 500 people * $3 = $1,500 a month for me, of course it's minus taxes but during that time, I still think I'll be working ChaCha too for mega moneys.

Anyway, that being said: I plan in early May to have an advertising campaign. We last had one about 2 months ago, and I think the new changes are really going to put newbies in favor of MonBre. Remember, we've had tons of tweaks and additions in the past months, even some new art. ON TOP of that, in the next week I do plan to roll out (lol, dev terms) a "story" system which I personally think will add a great touch of love to MonBre. Right now it feels like you drop down in the world with no unique story of your own, and I plan to change that. Oh, and we also have a much more attractive (in more ways than one) advertising banner.

It is my hope that this advertising campaign will work out, I'd like to at least see 50 active users. I then plan if everything goes according to... plan... to have another large one in June.

I really doubt I'll ever "give up" on MonBre, but if we don't start to at least show signs of being able to generate an income by June, I'll be forced to start work on Simulara and donate half the coding time to Simulara and MonBre.

So that's where we stand. You can do your part in early May by bringing everyone you know, when I say to. Also as a plus, college kids are getting out of session, and lawd knows they gots tons o' money to spend, mirite?

When do you plan on adding the subscription feature? I know that's not exactly the top priority of that post, but I figured I'd ask that first.

Do we want intelligent people who can form an opinion about something, or just anyone at all? Because I only got my one friend to play because I figured he'd be able to suggest stuff, but I could probably get other people to try it for a bit depending on jobs and such.

Speaking of random people, do you know what kinds of stuff you need to go through to get your game on facebook? Then again, that might be too much of a hassle to do, it'd depend on how it works and stuff... But I know people tend to play shitty little pieces of crap on facebook, since these days nobody wants to make a game on their own site since that's just crazy talk, right?

But really, I've seen a lot of games that let you login from facebook and stuff, and I can pretty much guarantee that somebody would find it from there and then send it to their 500 friends, and that'd get the ball rolling.

Just a thought, no clue if you want to taint MonBre like that/want to basically stop development of the actual game to do that.

But when that call never comes, it's time to face what you've become - there's no point doing all of this, unless you know you're having fun.

I don't think it would translate to MonBre well, but perhaps I can find something with Facebook. I'll research it tomorrow.

I plan to have the subscription service when I feel the game deserves it. If I logged into a game and saw a VIP link and they had 20 users logged in that day, I'd be a bit put off.

I want anyone, Demi. I spent a good amount of time making the game newbie-friendly and also providing a good, deep game for them as they progress. Anyone you think will like it, tell them about it... during my ad campaign.

Yeah, it probably wouldn't work all that well, but I was thinking more about the publicity than how well it'd jive with the other "get your 500 friends to sign up, ???, profit!!!" style games on Facebook. I dunno, in a sense it couldn't hurt, but if it'd take a gigantic recode of the game or something to get it on there, obviously it wouldn't be worth it.

Actually, I saw an ad for this game a while back... Shadow Tale or some such. The game was released with subscribers only content, and it took two weeks before they added the subscription feature. The fact that half of the in-game equipment was restricted was bad enough, but then they didn't even have it working yet...?

As long as you don't take that route, you're probably fine.

Edit: Oh right, forgot the original reason why I suggested the Facebook thing. Ffs.

Unfortunately, I can't remember any names right now, but I've seen a few games that have "login through facebook" options, for whatever odd reason. Billy vs. Snakeman used to allow it, and it's currently disabled while more important things are worked on, and if I remember right from when I used to play it MechQuest has been added to Facebook. There was some BOTS game, not the MMO one, just some half text, half picture based thing that let you do it, and some other War something or another game that had three different iterations...

Anyway, musings aside. They weren't like full-fledged Facebook apps, it was just a login to the game through Facebook thing. On the other hand, I don't know if that'd get the game noticed, or just let whoever plays the game login through Facebook for... whatever odd reason.
