I've heard that Dead Rising 2 and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West are pretty amazing. Dead Rising 2 is killing tons of zombies and creating custom weapons (a staff with a chainsaw on each end), Enslaved is an action-adventure game. It's pretty, the combat is fun, the platforming is good, it's got enough variety to keep you interested through the whole 8-hour story.
Dead Rising 2 would probably take longer than that to finish, if only because killing zombies is awesome fun.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was great based on its demo, and if you like third person shooters, Vanquish should be great. Extremely hard, but great.

Dead Rising 2 is a cool game - I've not played the first one and always wanted to give it a try, so DR2 is the closer I can get. But I hate, hate, HATE, the time limit... Good thing it has the option "Restart Story" and you get to keep your level and XP.
Haven't heard of Enslaved, though.

Yeah, it's not meant to be finished in one playthrough. You're supposed to lose and start over a bunch.
I rented Enslaved and I'm loving it. It's an incredibly solid game.
